It is merely days since this sovereign republic came from a period of turmoil, tension and agony. Just like any other Kenyan, I was not spared from the shock and pain that entrenched in everyone's court in this country.Although, of the saddest part to note are the innocent lives that varnished in a spur of a second in line of duty. The three Kenya defence forces soldiers, General service Unit commander and all business men and women not forgetting innocent young children who were brutally murdered shall remain heroes in my history till my meeting with my Maker.
This week on social media somebody was noted saying
"KDF organizes meetings between terrorists and their makers for peaceful reconcilliation".
I believe this is not the case. Just as a doctor is trained to treat but unfortunately a patient dies during treatment, so is a KDF soldier who comes to save the day but unfortunately shoots a terrorist to death or is shot to death.
These are men and women who dare to enter the jungles that no man can dare and sacrifice for the lives of people they don't know. As citizens we see it as obedience to the command though this is not the case. They hold passion to human life.
Having stayed at the millitary barracks with interest to join the Defence Forces, at no time was I told we would be trained to become serial killers. All that was being emphasized was passion for human life and peaceful coexistence of the nation.
Tears rolled down my cheeks on learning the news of the General service unit commander, Fare thee well, who was mistakenly shot dead by combatants from the defense forces. As an ordinary citizen you may not feel it, but for the companions of this dedicated hero, his family members, friends and relatives, colleagues, it is a wound that has marked a scar whose healing has no physiological process.
Now, think of that patriotic Kenyan who never went to invest abroad but in early morning wakes up to open his or her shop and never to come back walking on two. These are our brothers who in reality control the value of the Kenyan shilling.
They are the good "Masterminds" who are behind our thriving economy. However, sad is that, those who were brutally murdered, shall be seen no more.
That soldier who was manning the mall just to secure poor Kenyans, shall no more interact with his friends and relatives.
Giving is not enough, Writing cannot satisfy neither is crying of help. Praying for those left lonely is of value.
May God look with mercy on the perpetrators of the attack, sympathize with them and show them the light that leadeth to eternal glory.
The untimely destroyed souls, FARE THE WELL BROTHERS AND SISTERS, TILL WE MEET AGAIN
